Hand-Dyed Gauze

Hand-Dyed Gauze

One of the most unique things about Young Whimsy is our hand-dyed cotton gauze. My process gives a subtle tie dye look with beautiful highs and lows, and each piece is one-of-a-kind. I dye small batches of gauze in signature colors in my home studio, with low-impact fiber reactive dyes. I've been using this method for years with my organic cotton quilts and my own clothing, and we will keep introducing new hand-dyed styles as we grow the line. This allows Aimee and I to stay lean and sustainable. We dye what we need and that's it! Here's our SS21 shade Lilac.

Did you know that the apparel industry is the second largest polluter in the world? Young Whimsy is helping to reduce impact by making our goods close-to-home, and focusing on dyeing our natural fiber fabrics ourselves. I use a small amount of dye and water to get the mottled effect you see here in Sunset.

Hand-dyeing also means that we have tons of flexibility in our color palette. If you just NEED one of our silhouettes in a certain shade, reach out and we will see what we can do! That's also the beauty of shopping small- we are here for you.
